Forward Deployed AI / UX Engineer · Lumoview
2021 – today · Cologne
Lumoview builds scan-to-BIM products for capturing, managing and digitally reconstructing buildings. As Forward Deployed AI / UX Engineer, I work where the product meets its users: I take problems from the field, turn them into product decisions and ship the solution. I lead UX and UI across LumoApp, LumoCloud and LumoCad and build what I design in React, React Native and TypeScript.
- Embedded with users. I work alongside surveyors, modelers and quality checkers, in the field and in their tools, and own problems from first observation to shipped fix.
- Design direction. I set UX direction, information architecture and the design system across mobile capture, cloud management and browser CAD, reducing dense expert workflows to their essential decisions without taking control away from experts.
- Prototype to production. I replaced static hand-offs with AI-assisted code prototypes that users can validate within hours and that carry straight into production.
- AI-native engineering. Coding agents and context engineering run through my whole workflow, from research synthesis to implementation, debugging and documentation (more than a hundred commits with AI co-authorship). They also let me deliver in unfamiliar layers, such as a point-cloud processing pipeline in Python.
- Production software. Offline-first data, scanner integration, 3D/CAD interfaces, quality control and multilingual field workflows, plus APIs, automated tests and CI/CD (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Xcode Cloud).
- Between teams. I translate field and domain needs into concepts engineering can build, and technical trade-offs into decisions the business can make, and I structured the process knowledge the company runs on.
- Interactive prototyping — Research, design and implementation collapsed into one AI-assisted loop: working product prototypes instead of static hand-offs.
- LumoApp — Lumoview's offline-first mobile field app for turning buildings into complete, structured scan projects.
- LumoCad — A browser-based 3D CAD editor that turns scan data into structured building models and deliverables.
- LumoCloud — The web platform around a building scan — projects, buildings, data, files, teams, quality control and hand-off into LumoCad.
- pano-app — An early browser prototype for exploring building scans as connected 360° panoramas.
